Lyndonville trio earns All-State baseball honors
Three key members of Lyndonville High’s baseball squad which won the Genesee Region League Division 2 title and a school record 19 games this past spring, have earned spots on the Class D All-State squad.
Pitcher/outfielder Justin Edwards, a June graduate, has been named to the second team. Two other Tigers, who will be seniors this fall, shortstop/pitcher Ty Hrovat and outfielder AJ Buckland, have both been named to the fourth team.
Edwards went 6-1 on the mound this season with a 1.54 earned run average and 54 strikeouts in 45 innings. He also had two saves. At the plate, he hit .382 with 16 RBIs.
Hrovat went 5-1 on the mound with a 1.67 era. He hit .461 and drove in 19 runs.
Buckland hit .500 and had 20 RBIs.
Kendall pitcher/outfielder Alex Sutphen has earned fifth team Class C honors. A June Kendall grad, Sutphen hit .415 this past season. On the mound, he went 5-4 with a 2.22 era. and 86 strikeouts in 63 innings.
Medina High pitcher Adam Hoot has been named to the seventh team in Class B. A June graduate, he struck out 79 in 42 innings and at the plate hit .364 with 15 RBIs.
As reported in a previous story on the Hub, two Albion High June graduates, pitcher Connor Barleben and catcher John Warne, have been named to the Class A squad. Barleben was a third team honoree and Warne a sixth team selection.
