Jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, No. 2 seed Lyndonville went on to defeat visiting No. 7 Fillmore 4-2 this afternoon in the Section V Class DD quarterfinals.

Lyndonville jumped out to a lighting quick 1-0 lead as AJ Buckland led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run over the left centerfield fence.

The Tigers upped the advantage to 3-0 in the third on RBI singles by Buckland and Ty Hrovat. A leadoff double by Trevor Bentley set up that opportunity.

Fillmore did get on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the fourth as Zach Bower tripled and came home on a fielders choice play but would get no closer.

AJ Buckland gave Lyndonville a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning with a home run and later added an RBI single in the third.

Lyndonville though got that one right back in the home half of the fourth on an RBI single by Bentley. Winning pitcher Michael Wells singled to open the frame. Buckland also had his third hit of the day in the inning but the Tigers could not score again leaving runners stranded at second and third.

Fillmore did bunch four hits together in the sixth but could score only one run.

Wells pitched the first six innings giving up 6 hits and striking out 8. Hrovat came on to hurl the seventh and allowed 1 hit and struck out 1.

Improving to 14-5, the Tigers will next face the winner of the No. 6 HAC vs. No. 3 Arkport game in the semifinals on May 26.
