A big seven run fifth inning scoring burst keyed Lyndonville to a 10-4 victory over visiting Wheatfield/Cambria this evening in the quarterfinal round of the Lockport Midget ‘A’ League playoffs.

Leading by a narrow 3-2 margin, Lyndonville took charge in the decisive fifth inning highlighted by a two-run double by Chris Scroger, a two-run single by Eddie Schildt, and an RBI single by Michael Wells. A double by AJ Buckland, an error and a walk loaded the bases to set up the threat.

Buckland had a total of 3 hits while Schildt and Eric Neace both had 2.

Lyndonville took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Jacob Hoffee following a single by Trevor Bentley and a double by Buckland.

Wheatfield/Cambria grabbed what proved to be a brief 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth on an RBI double by Nick Private and an error.

However, Lyndonville answered right back with two runs in the home half of the frame on RBI singles by Schildt and Neace to regain the lead for good at 3-2. A double by Evan Milleville set up the opportunity.

Lyndonville will next face either Albion or Medina in the semifinals. The Medina at Albion quarterfinal round game was rained out and is tentatively set to be made up at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Barre Town Park. Ironically, both of the Albion vs. Medina regular season games were rained out.

The Akron at Lockport quarterfinal was also rained out and is slated to be made up on Thursday.
