Lyndonville spikers romp in sectional opener

Lyndonville rolled to a 25-10, 25-12, 25-10 victory over Hinsdale in a Section V Class D3 opening round volleyball match this evening at Elba.

Ashlee Stephens had 14 service aces, Addison Dillenbeck 6 and Katelynn Breeze 4 to lead the way for Lyndonville.

The Lady Tigers also had Jocelyn Mack with 6 spiking kills, Breeze 5 kills, Addison Dillenbeck 2 kills, Lorelei Dillenbeck 2 kills and Stephens 10 assists.

Lyndonville will next visit Notre Dame on Saturday.

In the first half of the doubleheader, host Elba defeated Belfast/Genesee Valley 25-6, 25-17, 25-21 as Alexa Ocampo had 9 aces and 2 kills and Halie Scouten had 7 kills and 3 aces.

In another Section V opener Alexander defeated Holley 25-9, 25-11, 25-10.

Section VI volleyball playoff openers

No. 3 seed Olean defeated No. 6 Albion 25-14, 25-12, 25-21 in Class B2, No. 1 Eden downed No. 9 Medina 25-8, 25-3, 25-11 in Class C1 and No. 5 Falconer bested No. 4 Roy-Hart 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 in Class C2.

Destiny Richardson had 2 digs and 1 ace and Gabbi Flores-Medina 1 kill for Medina.

Football

Akron defeated visiting Roy-Hart/Barker/Lyndonville 42-12 in the semifinals of the Section VI Class C Funke Bowl.

In a Section VI Class B quarterfinal game, No. 2 seed Maryvale downed No. 7 Burgard 50-8. The Flyers will now host the winner of Friday’s No. 6 Albion at No. 3 Pioneer quarterfinal contest in the semifinals next Friday.
