Lyndonville scores Midget ‘A’ victory over Albion
Lyndonville bunched all of its scoring into the first three innings in route to posting a narrow 5-4 victory over visiting Albion this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.
Lyndonville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead by scoring once in the first inning on an RBI single by Jcob Hoffee, which followed hits by AJ Buckland and Ty Hrovat, and once in the second aided by three walks.
However, Albion rallied into a brief 3-2 lead by scoring three times in the top of the third on two walks, an error and a wild pitch.
Lyndonville though quickly regained the lead for good at 5-3 by answering with three runs in the bottom of the third on two walks, hits by Evan Milleville, Michael Wells, Eddie Schildt and an error.
Milleville, Buckland and Schildt each had two hits on the evening. Buckland’s hits included a double.
Albion did cut the deficit to 5-4 with a run in the fifth on a triple by Kyle Smith and an error but could not plate the equalizer.
Albion did get a runner to third with one out in the top of the seventh after Matt Howell led off with a single but Schildt, who went the distance on the mound for Lyndonville, got out of trouble with a strikeout and a flyout to Buckland in centerfield to close out the win.
Lyndonville is now 2-1 and Albion 1-2.
