Lyndonville school leader finalist for top job at Elba Central School
ELBA – One of the three finalists to be the next superintendent at Elba Central School currently leads the school district at Lyndonville.
Jason Smith, Lyndonville’s school superintendent since December 2011, is being considered to lead Elba.
Smith, who started his career as a social studies teacher in Albion, was a principal at Elba for seven years before he was hired at Lyndonville.
Smith lives in Batavia. Elba would be a much closer commute if he is picked to be the next superintendent of the school district in Genesee County. Keith Palmer of Albion is the current superintendent of Elba. He is retiring in November.
The two other finalists include Ned Dale, principal of Cosgrove Middle School in Spencerport, and Matt Stroud, principal of Alexander Elementary School.
The Elba Board of Education will conduct a final round of interviews with the three candidates in early October, with the next superintendent to be appointed by Nov. 26.
