Lyndonville tops Lockport 2 to regain Midget ‘A lead as Akron upends Medina

Lyndonville used the combination of a 6-2 home field victory over Lockport 2 along with Akron’s 6-3 upset win over visiting Medina this evening to regain sole possession of first place in the Lockport Midget ‘A’ League.
Lyndonville, which improves to 8-3, next hosts runner-up Medina (7-4) in a key contest at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
In the other Midget ‘A’ contest, Lockport 1 rallied late to defeat Roy-Hart 9-4.
Lyndonville took charge at the outset scoring three quick runs in the first inning as Evan Milleville and Ty Hrovat had key hits.
Doubles by Michael Wells and Hrovat then keyed a two run third inning which also included a single by AJ Buckland.
Wells and Buckland both had two hits on the night.

Austin Loyd went the distance on the mound for Lyndonville striking out seven. He capped off the win by retiring Lockport in order in the seventh on a strikeout, a groundout back to the mound and a flyout to Aaron Burnside who made a nice diving catch in right field to end the game.
A big five run fifth inning keyed Akron to the win over Medina.
Jake Cotriss and Matt Riemer both had two hits for Medina.
Roy-Hart led 3-1 after four innings but Lockport 1 rallied for four runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to clam the win.
Roy-Hart scored three runs in the second inning as CJ Fitch and Brad Wilson had hits.
Cole Gregson also had a double for Roy-Hart which slips to 4-7.
