Lyndonville posts narrow win over Akron

Red hot 11 of 13 free throw shooting in the final period helped Lyndonville lock up a narrow 57-54 victory over visiting Akron in a non league game.

Leading 41-36 at the three-quarter mark, Lyndonville claimed the win as Nathan Hydock made 4 free throws, Zach Johnson 3 and Matt Hess and Nathan Dillenbeck 2 each in the decisive final stanza. Hydock had a total of 6 points during that stretch and Dillenbeck 5 including a 3.

Hydock finished with a total of 19 points, Johnson 15, Dillenbeck 11, Natan Poler 8 and Hess 4.

Jake Siska scored 19 and Adam Mietz 12 for Akron.

Lyndonville jumped out to a 14-8 first period lead as Johnson scored 6 and Dillenbeck hit a 3 in the early going.

The Tigers maintained a 27-20 lead at the half as Poler tallied 6 and Dillenbeck hit anther three in the second period.

Lyndonville held a 41-36 lead at the three-quarter mark as Hydock had a big 10 point third period.

Improving to 13-1, Lyndonville next visits Attica on Thursday in a Genesee Region League contest.
