Lyndonville matmen rally past B-B

Rebounding from a 23 point deficit at the outset, Lyndonville rallied to defeat visiting Byron-Bergen 43-38 this evening to improve to 2-0 in Genesee Region League wrestling competition.

Byron-Bergen combined two forfeit wins with pin and a major decision victory to jump to to an early 23-0 lead.

However, Lyndonville answered back by taking the next seven bouts in a row to rally into the lead for good at 37-26.

A quick 33 second pin by Jeff Gress Jr. (106) ignited that rally. Garren Bayne (113) followed up with a decision win, Cullen Heveron (120) notched a pin in 1:44, Tony Recco took a forfeit win at 126 and Dustin Hinkley (132) registered a pin in 1:59 to rally the Tigers into the lead at 27-23.

Keeping the momentum, Chris McDonald (138) scored a decision win and Dustin Joy (145) registered a pin in 2:37 to up the Lyndonville advantage to 37-23.

Byron-Bergen did take three of the last four bouts on two forfeits and a decision win but Lyndonville gained a forfeit win at 160 to close out the victory.
