Lyndonville matmen have strong returning nucleus
A large contingent of eight veterans anchors the lineup for the Lyndonville varsity wrestling squad which will open the season on December 2 with a non league home match against Albion.
Senior Tom Follman along with juniors Jeff Gress Jr., Garren Bayne, Dustin Hinkley, Dustin Joy, Anthony Bentley-Soloman and sophomores Reese Ledford and Cullen Heveron lead the way for the Tigers which went 3-2 in Genesee Region League dual match action last year.
Gress went 46-6 last year, won a Class B title, placed second at the Section V championships and qualified for the state meet.
Follman, who went 37-12, also won a Class B title and placed sixth at the sectionals.
Joy, who placed second at both the Class B Tournament and at the sectionals, posted a 41-10 record.
Bayne, who also placed second at the Class B Tourney, went 33-16.
Hinkley, who went 37-14, placed third at the Class B Tournament as did Heveron.
“We’ve got a pretty good solid core. It’s a solid contingent coming back,” said Tigers Coach Jeff Gress. “We’re real excited about the season. We have some real tough tournaments and duals so we’ll get some real good competition.”
