Lyndonville hands Barker first loss

Regaining the .500 mark at 2-2, Lyndonville handed host Barker (3-1) its first loss by a 5-0 margin this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.

Jacob Hoffee went the distance on the mound for Lyndonville allowing 4 hits and striking out 11, including the last 7 Barker batters of the game.

The Lyndonville defense also came up big turning two double plays, one triggered by Hoffee and the other by second baseman Cody Bentley, and catcher Corey Hydock threw two runners out at second.

Justin Heschke had 3 hits and Hydock 2 to spark the Lyndonville offense.

Lyndonville jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning keyed by hits from Heschke and Hydock.

Lyndonville built the lead to 4-0 as Evan Pappalardo singled and scored on a wild pitch in the third inning and Heschke tripled and came home on a wild pitch in the fourth.

Hydock rounded out the Lyndonville scoring with an RBI single in the seventh which plated Heschke who had reached on a single.

Brad Wilson and Eddie Wasnock shared the pitching for Barker allowing 6 hits. Wasnock also started a double play in the sixth inning.

Lyndonville next visits Lockport 1 on Thursday.
