Lyndonville grapplers place second at Hilton Tournament

Nine wrestlers posted top four finishes to help earn Lyndonville second place honors today at Hilton’s annual Clayton Bernard Tournament.
The Tigers garnered a total of 233 points on the weekend to finish second to host Hilton’s 330.5 as Alexander placed third with 196.
“The kids wrestled really well,” said Tigers Coach Jeff Gress. “I was really proud of them.”
Jeff Gress Jr. (106) earned first place honors to lead the Tigers as Garren Bayne (113) and Tom Follman (152) both took second; Cullen Heveron (113), Chris McDonald (138), Dustin Joy (145) and Dawson Joy third; Dustin Hinkley (132) and Devon Joy (160) fourth and Frank Carrasquillo fifth.
Gress went 6-0 on the tournament including four victories by pin. Dustin Joy and Bayne both went 5-1, Follman 3-1, Heveron, and Hinkley 4-2, McDonald and Carrasquillo 3-2, Devon Joy 2-2 and Dawson Joy 3-3.
Lyndonville next hosts Alexander at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a key Genesee Region League battle for first place.
