Lyndonville girls win high scoring contest

Scoring runs in bunches, Lyndonville outlasted visiting Akron 23-12 in a non league softball game this afternoon.

Breaking away from an 8-8 tie, Lyndonville regained the lead for good by scoring six runs in the bottom of the third inning as Addy Dillenbeck had an RBI triple and Gracie Johnson, Lorelei Dillenbeck and Bella Groves all added RBI singles.

Lyndonville also scored six runs in the first inning highlighted by a three-run double by Haley Shaffer and twice in the second on a two-run triple by Addy Dillenbeck.

The Lady Tigers put a lock on the win by scoring five times in the fifth inning as Lorelei Dillenbeck had a two-run homer, and four times in the sixth as Johnson and Brooke Robinson both had two-run singles.

Johnson and Lorelei Dillenbeck both had a total of 4 hits, Addy Dillenbeck and Robinson 3 and Shaffer, Ella Lewis and Groves 2 each.

Ashlee Henning had a big day at the plate for Akron banging out a two-run home run to highlight a four run second inning and a grand slam homer in the sixth.

The game begins a busy stretch of four games in three days for Lyndonville which hosts Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. Friday and then entertains Wilson and Elba at 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Akron next hosts Medina at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Wilson defeated Akron 91-49 in a Niagara-Orleans League boys track meet as Paul Smith was a quadruple winner in the 100, 200, Long Jump and Triple Jump.

William Chubb was a triple winner for Akron in the 800, 1600 and 3200.

Akron defeated Wilson 111-30 in the girls meet led by a quartet of double winners including Sophia Jones (100, 200), Lauren Wagner (1500, 3000), Shea Masse (Shotput, Discus) and Madison Brege (Long Jump, Pole Vault).

Maddy Schultz was a triple winner for Wilson in the 100 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles and High Jump.
