Avenging an earlier season one run (4-3) loss, Lyndonville trimmed visiting Lockport 2 by an equally close margin of 8-7 this evening in a key Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.

Mike Wells, Evan Pappalardo and Corey Hydock each had a pair of hits for Lyndonville which improves to 4-2 as Lockport 2 slips to 3-2.

Lyndonville jumped out to a quick first inning lead on a two-run double by Matt Riemer which followed singles by Pappalardo and Wells.

Lockport 2 grabbed what proved to be a brief 3-2 lead in the third inning on a two-run double by Brian Chatt and a wild pitch.

However, Lyndonville got those three right back in the fourth frame on an error, an RBI single by Zach Johnson and a wild pitch to regain the lead for good at 5-3. Singles by AJ Buckland and Hydock also helped key the rally.

Lyndonville upped the lead to 8-4 by scoring three times in the fifth on a two-run triple by Justin Heschke and a passed ball for what proved to be the deciding tallies. A single by Wells ignited that uprising.

Lyndonville next hosts Orchard Park in a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 5 p.m.
