Lyndonville cagers surge past Kendall
Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Russell Stephens scored a career high 34 points for Lyndonville this evening in the host Tigers 81-55 win over Kendall.
Pulling away in the third quarter, Lyndonville went on to defeat visiting Kendall 81-55 this evening in a Genesee Region League boys basketball game.
Russell Stephens poured in a career high 34 points and Nathan Dillenbeck added 22 to lead the way for Lyndonville. Noah Poler chipped in with 8, Anthony Moule 6, Casey Winiecki 4, Jaden Dent 3 and Trenton Muck and Haydin Woodward 2 each.
Derek Edick scored 18, Devin Edick 14 and Zach Barrett 11 to pace Kendall as Braxton Zarpentine added 7 and Jeffrey Pratt 5.
Leading by a narrow 37-34 margin at the half, Lyndonville erupted with a 26-12 third period scoring burst to break the contest open. Stephens scored 14 to lead that decisive uprising for the Tigers.
Lyndonville had grabbed a 17-12 lead at the end of the opening period as Stephens scored 7 and Dillenbeck 5. Derek Edick netted 9 in the stanza to help keep Kendall close.
The visiting Eagles cut the deficit to three, 37-34, at the half as Devin Edick tallied 11, including three threes, and Derek Edick 7 in the second period. Stephens and Dillenbeck each scored seven in the stanza for the Tigers.
Lyndonville then broke the contest wide open in the third period to improve to 6-4 on the season.
The loss drops Kendall to 1-9.
