Lyndonville cagers roll in opener

A quartet of double figure scorers sparked Lyndonville to a 60-43 victory over visiting Webster Christian this evening in a season opening non league boys basketball game.

Eddie Schildt scored 17, Zach Johnson 14, Nick Hinkson 12 and Eric Neace 11 to lead the Lyndonville attack. Schildt also grabbed off 14 rebounds, Neace 9 and Hinkson 8 to go along with 7 steals.

Lyndonville jumped out to a 20-10 first period lead as Johnson hit two three’s and a two, Corey Hydock a three and a two and Schildt a pair of baskets.

Webster Christian did close to within two, 29-27, at the half but Lyndonville turned back the challenge and maintained a 44-38 advantage at the three-quarter mark.

Hinkson scored 6 and Schildt 4 in the third period to help keep the Tigers on top.

Neace then netted 7 and Schldt 4 in the final stanza to help close out the Tigers win with a 16-5 scoring edge over the Warriors.

Lyndonville next hosts Kendall at 7 p.m. Friday in the Geensee Region League opener.

Emerson 50, Roy-Hart 47

Andy Xapsos scored 23, Ben Maynard 12 and Justin Heschke 7 for Roy-Hart in the host Rams narrow season opening non league loss to Emerson of Buffalo.

Roy-Hart jumped out to leads of 19-11 after one quarter and 27-23 at the half but Emerson rallied back into a 39-39 tie at the three-quarter mark.

Emerson then outscored R-H 11-8 in the decisive final period to claim the narrow win.
