Lyndonville turned a clutch game ending double play to claim a narrow 5-4 victory over visiting Notre Dame in the season opening Genesee Region League softball contest this afternoon.

Third baseman Ella Lewis teamed up with first baseman Gracie Johnson to turn the big double play as the Lady Tigers improve to 3-0 overall.

Lyndonville jumped out to a quick 2-0 first inning lead on RBI singles by Lorelei Dillenbeck and Hailey Shaffer as a single by Johnson ignited the uprising.

The Lady Tigers tacked on a run in the third inning as Addy Dillenbeck tripled and came home on a sacrifice fly by Lorelei Dillenbeck.

A two-run single by Brooke Robinson in the fifth inning later provided what proved to be the margin of victory. A single by Lorelei Dillenbeck and an error set up the opportunity.

Robinson and Lorelei Dillenbeck both finished with a pair of hits.

Lyndonville next hosts Wilson and Elba on Saturday at 9 and 11 a.m.
