Lyndonville ‘9’ ousts Naples

Two run scoring bursts in each of the first four innings sparked top seeded Lyndonville to an 8-3 victory over visiting No. 9 Naples this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class D1 baseball playoffs.

Jacob Hoffee banged out 2 triples, Dawson Joy a double and triple and winning pitcher Eddie Schildt a pair of doubles to highlight the Tigers attack which also included 2 hits by Corey Hydock , Nolan Donald and Cody Bentley and 1 by Zach Johnson.

Schildt went the distance on the mound striking out 13 and allowing 4 hits, 3 of which came in the final inning.

Naples plated a quick unearned run in the top of the first inning but Lyndonville answered right back with a pair of tallies in the home half of the frame to take the lead for good.

A triple by Hoffee and double by Joy highlighted that rally.

Singles by Bentley, Hydock, Donald and Johnson then helped to drive in 2 runs in the second inning.

The Tigers made it 6-1 with 2 more in the third on a double by Schldt and singles by Bentley, Hydock and Donald.

A triple by Hoffee and double by Schildt then helped to scored 2 more runs in the fourth to make it 8-1.

Lyndonville will next face the winner of the Notre Dame/Honeyoe game in the semifinals on Tuesday.
