Lyndonville ‘9’ earns top seed

Posting a near perfect 17-1 regular season record, defending champion Lyndonville has earned the No. 1 seed for the up coming Section V Class DD baseball playoffs.

Lyndonville will host a quarterfinal round game at 4:30 p.m. Friday against the winner of Tueday’s opening round contest between No. 8 Genesee Valley and No. 9 Avoca.

In Class CC, Holley is seeded No. 8 and Kendall No. 10.

Holley (8-7) will host No. 9 Letchworth (8-8) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday while Kendall will face No. 7 Dundee at Newark at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Tennis

Barker captured the Niagara-Orleans League doubles title Saturday as the Raiders duo of Sean Benoit and Tristan Payne outlasted the Wilson duo of Nate Johnson and Dominic Curcione in three sets.

Barker, Wilson and Akron’s third place finishing team of Jacob Borth and Ryan Meek will now all compete in the Section VI playoffs on Tuesday.

The N-O League will be represented in the sectional singles competition by Medina’s Ben Howell and Wilson’s Isaiah Barrett.
