Lyndonville ‘9’ downs Elba

Combining timely hitting with steady pitching and defense, Lyndonville downed visiting Elba 4-1 this afternoon to improve to 7-0 in Genesee Region League action and 8-0 overall.

All five of the Tigers hits contributed to plating the four runs.

Noah Heinsler banged out what proved to be the game winning hit with a two run single in the third inning.

The Tigers made it 3-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Casey Winiecki, which followed singles by Devin Rounds and Matt Hess.

Oskar Heinsler rounded out the Tigers scoring with an RBI single in the fifth frame.

The Tigers defense came up with a huge double play to end the fifth inning from Noah Heinsler at third base to Zach Johnson at first to Kane Flynn at catcher after Elba had put runners to second and third with just one out.

The Lancers only run came on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. A nifty diving catch by Lyndonville right fielder Devin Rounds prevented another run from scoring.

Rolland Balcerzak went the distance on the mound for the Tigers scattering 4 hits and striking out 7.

Andrew Hare likewise pitched the whole game for the Lancers giving up 5 hits and striking out 10.

Lyndonville is next scheduled to visit Notre Dame on Friday.
