LUMC wins softball opener

The Lyndonville United Methodist Church (LUMC) softball team opened the season with a 9-4 victory over the Somerset Red Sox this past week.

Haley Woodworth and Lorelei Dillenbeck both had 3 hits; Brianna Krisher, Brianna Smith, Ashlee Stephens, Addison Dillenbeck, Gianna Romano and Cheyanne Nickerson 2 each and Carrie Janas, Mackenzie Rutherford, Abi Garver, Grace Russo and Vanessa Henlis 1 apiece. Krisher’s hits included a home run and Lorelei Dillenbeck’s a double.

Woodworth struck out 8 of the 10 batters she faced over the first 3 innings. Lorelei Dillenbeck struck out 6 of the 9 batters she faced in 2 innings and Stephens finished the game in the circle for LUMC.

Youth Baseball

Yankees 4, Twins 0

Breydin Miller had 2 singles and Liam Castricone a double and 2 RBIs to lead the Yankees offense.

Sawyer Lilleby, Laraya Guy, Ryleigh Culver, Cameron Kenward and Aaron Woodroe also all had singles. Culver also had an RBI.

On the mound, Miller and Castricone pitched well.

American Legion #204 Cubs 5, Somerset Mets 0

Briley Allen and Ryan Pegelow led the Cubs with 3 hits each.  Isabella Gray, Ryder Jones, and Camden Fike contributed with 2 hits apiece.  Ethan Page added a triple and Aiden Allen a single.  Vincent Gray, Ryan Pegelow, and Camden Fike all pitched a strong game.

Roy-Hart Athletics 7, American Legion #204 Cubs 0

Vincent Gray and Pegelow pitched strong for the Cubs. Page, Fike, Vincent Gray, and Aiden Allen all contributed hits during the game.

Mark’s Pizzeria Reds 4, Somerset Mets 0

Brody Fry and Jimmy Dieter both had good pitching performances for the Reds.  Carter Woodworth led batting with a triple and a double, Jimmy Dieter had a double and 1 RBI, Brody Fry 2 hits, Avion Johnson had a hit with 2 RBI’s, and the following players all had a hit; Riley Tompkins, Colton Smith, Aiden Wisneiwski, Gavin Snook, and Analise Wagner.
