LUMC romps to softball victory
Getting off to a fast start, Lyndonville United Methodist Church posted a 14-3 win over the Roy-Hart Angels Friday in youth softball action.
LUMC pitcher Haley Shaffer started the game off by registering three strikeouts.
The LUMC offense quickly scored five runs in the first inning ignited by a triple by Lily Joe Carpenter who came home on a single by Shaffer. Lorelei Sanders then singled and scored on an RBI single by Sophia Weber. Makayla Heideman followed up with an RBI single and scored on a double by Brooklynn Parsons.
Keeping the momentum, LUMC tacked on five more runs in the second inning highlighted by a home run by Weber and singles by Shaffer, Sanders,Shelby Boring, Heideman, Elissa Roath and Marissa Johnston.
Weber also had a home run and Carpenter a triple during a four-run third inning.
Weber, Heideman and Sanders each finished with three hits as Carpenter, Shaffer, Parsons, Roath and Johnston each had two.
In the circle, Shaffer and Carpenter each had four strikeouts and combined for a four hitter.
