Lumberjacks edge Mustang matmen

A pin in the final bout earned North Tonawanda a narrow 48-42 victory over host Medina this evening in a non league wrestling match.

The Lumberjacks claimed the victory on a quick pin in just 49 seconds by Veysal Mukhatisimov.

N.T. also jumped out to a big 24-0 lead at the outset on a pin and three forfeit wins.

Medina though came battling back to knot the contest at 30-30 on a burst of four pins and a forfeit win.

Registering the pins for the Mustangs were Colby Petrie in 39 seconds, Jake Bensley in 1:37, Austin Cox in 58 seconds and Joe Gates in 4:34.

The Lumberjacks went back up 42-30 on a pin and a forfeit but the Mustangs retied the contest one last time at 42-42 after a pair of forfeit wins.

Now at 0-2 in dual match competition, the Mustangs next compete in the Batavia Tournament on Saturday.
