LOYAL soccer stresses fun and fundamentals
Photos by Cheryl Wertman – The LOYAL Youth Soccer program is off to a busy summer season with some 300 youngsters participating in age group divisions including 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-11-12. Here youngsters in the 4-5 age group play in a game on Saturday. While most of the players taking part in the LOYAL program are from Medina there are also some youngsters from Lyndonville, Roy-Hart and Albion.
There were a number of 4-5 age group teams playing on Saturday morning as the LOYAL program is halfway though its summer season. “We’re teaching them the fundamentals of the game and hopefully most importantly a love of the game,” said LOYAL Soccer President Carl Husung. “We want them to have fun playing the game, We’re the grass roots level of local soccer. I kind of feel like Johnny Appleseed planting the seeds for the future of soccer here.”
