Working to cope with low numbers the Barker boys and girls swim teams are getting set to open the season with a non league meet at Pembroke on Tuesday.

Seniors Kaitlynn Dauphinee, Abby Wilson, Alex Jenks and sophomore Ryan Santarsiero are serving as captains for the Raiders which are being coached this season by Bri Strong.

The Raiders, which have only seven swimmers on each of the two teams, are also looking for contributions from senior Tyler Cirillo, juniors Ryan Stevener and Will Goodlander and sophomore Emma McGrath.

Santarsiero placed second in the 200 Individual Medley at last year’s Niagara-Orleans All-League meet while Stevener was fourth in the 100 Backstroke and Jenks sixth in the 50 Free.

The Raiders losses from last year include junior Natalie Brunning who is playing basketball this season. She placed fourth in the IM and fifth in the Backstroke at the All-League meet.

Barker will open the N-O season at Roy-Hart on December 10.
