Lou Gehrig Red bests U12 Fillies
Jumping out to an early 8-0 lead, Lou Gehrig Red went on to defeat the host Medina U12 Fillies 17-7 Sunday in a Metro Girls Softball League game.
Lou Gehrig opened the game with 4 runs in the first on a number of errors and a hit by pitch and continued to post runs in the second and third on errors and walks taking an 8-0 lead.
Medina finally answered back with 2 in the fourth on a single by Ryan Olles, who stole home, and a single by Chloe Stinson, who scored on an RBI single by Lexi Hare.
Medina allowed 3 more runs in the top of the fifth on errors and walks.
Down 14-2, Medina rallied to score 5 in the bottom of the fifth on a pair of passed balls, an error and RBI singles by Faith Oberther and Stinson.
Lou Gehrig secured the lead with 3 more runs in the top of the sixth on walks and errors.
Olles and Stinson both finished with a pair of hits.
Defensively Hannah Kenward secured at total of seven outs at second and Oberther and Hare shared time on the mound.
