Long Southern Tier trip earns Albion first win

The long drive to the Southern Tier was well worth it as Albion snapped a season opening two game losing streak by downing host Olean 38-21 in a B2 Division game this evening.

Albion jumped out to an 8-0 first quarter lead on an 11 yard touchdown pass from Amari Jones to Javon Jones and a two-point conversion carry by Jacob Hughson.

The Purple Eagles maintained a 22-13 lead at the half on second quarter touchdowns by Hughson on a 4 yard run and by Javon Jones on a 36 yard pass reception from Amari Jones. Amari Jones tacked on the two-point conversion after the first TD.

Albion made it 30-13 in the third quarter on a 6 yard TD run and a two-point conversion carry by Amari Jones.

The Purple Eagles locked up the win in the final quarter on a 4 yard touchdown run by Hughson and a two-point conversion carry by Amari to make it 38-13.

Amari Jones finished with 104 yards passing and 98 rushing; Javon Jones 87 receiving and 40 rushing and Hughson 89 rushing.

The loss drops Olean to 2-1.
