Long range shooting powers Elba past Kendall
Taking charge from long range in the second quarter, Elba went on to defeat host Kendall 68-30 this afternoon in a Genesee Region League girls basketball game.
Leading by a narrow two point, 15-13, margin at the end of the opening quarter, Elba used a barrage of six threes to highlight a big 24-5 scoring surge in the decisive second quarter to open up a commanding 21 point, 39-18, half-time advantage.
Lauryn Engle hit four threes, including three in a row, and Taylor Augello two threes and a layup to spearhead the Lady Lancers decisive uprising.
Taylor Augello also scored on a last second lay-up to give Elba the slender 15-13 lead at the end of a sea-saw first quarter which saw five ties and five lead changes.
Elba, which hit a total of 13 threes on the afternoon, upped its advantage to 28, 53-25, at the three-quarter mark as Leah Bezon had a pair of threes.
Engle finished with a game high 24 points on eight threes as Taylor Augello netted 19, Brynn Walczak 12, Bezon 8, Laci Sewar 3 an Kelsea Augello 2.

Brittney Marks and Elizabeth Snyder each scored 9 to lead Kendall as Katie Pearson and Julie Coble both added 4 and Alezya Bown and Lizzie Sutphen 2 each.

Elba stays unbeaten at 5-0 while Kendall is 3-1.
