Logjam for playoff spots in B North Division

With just two weeks remaining in the regular season a real logjam is developing for the final two B North Division Section VI Class B football playoff spots.

Currently the undefeated front-running duo of Burgard (5-0) and Cheektowaga (4-0) have virtually locked up the top two berths. The Bulldogs and Warriors will collide this Saturday in a key contest that will determine the division champion.

However, the battle for the final two spots is a tight four-way battle between Albion, Medina, Lew-Port and Bennett, all at 2-2. That logjam will certainly be broken up quite a bit this coming weekend as Albion visits Lew-Port on Friday and Medina faces Bennett at All High Stadium in Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. Lew-Port also picked up an important possible tie-breaking advantage this past weekend by upending Medina 31-30.

The very tight Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer title race has a key contest Tuesday as front-running Wilson (9-0-1) visits Akron (9-1-0). Wilson won the earlier season meeting 3-1.

In N-O boys soccer, undefeated (9-0) Akron can lock up outright possession of a sixth title in the last seven years with a win at Wilson on Wednesday.

In N-O volleyball, undefeated (9-0) Albion will look to lock up the title with road wins at Medina on Wednesday and Roy-Hart on Friday.
