Lockport tops Medina in Midget ‘B’

Scoring in five different innings, Lockport posted a 7-4 victory over host Medina this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘B’ League game.

In other ‘B’ League action, Roy-Hart 1 scored a 13-5 win over rival Roy-Hart 2.

Capitalizing on five walks, Lockport scored two runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.

After picking up single runs in the third, fourth and fifth frames, Lockport extended its advantage to 7-2 by scoring twice in the top of the seventh on two walks and a pair of errors.

Medina did rally for two runs in the bottom of the seventh on an error, a walk and a two run single by Quentin Adkins but left two runners stranded.

Medina also left a pair of runners stranded in the fifth after a single by Hunter Sturtevant and a walk.

Earlier, Medina scored one in the third on doubles by Brett Riemer and Jared Zinkievich, and one in the fourth on three walks and an error. Riemer had two hits on the night.

The loss drops Medina to 2-2.

Roy-Hart 1 13, Roy-Hart 2 5

Alex Farewell had four hits, including a double with three RBIs, while Jake Stern and Austin Walker both chipped in with doubles to lead the offense for Roy-Hart 1 which improves to 3-2.

Aaron Metz picked up the win on the mound giving up two hits with eight strikeouts in six innings of work.
