Local trio advances to Section V mat semis
A trio of Orleans wrestlers including Chase Stinson (126) and Mario Fidanza (220) from Lyndonville and Erik Balys (152) from Holley-Kendall, have advanced to the semifinals of the Section V wrestling championships being held at SUNY Brockport.
Fidanza advanced by notching a quarterfinal round pin while Stinson and Balys both earned decision wins.
A total of 10 Orleans wrestlers are still alive in the consolation competition including Connor Bell (113) and Rodney Davis (160) from Lyndonville along with Dylan Clemons (113), Tristyn Moyer (120), Jayden Pieniaszek (126), Dawson Custer (160), Eli Stanton (170), Cade Aina (182), Austin Berns (195) and Frank Flynn (220) from Holley-Kendall.
The consolation rounds, semifinals and title matches will be held Saturday.
