Holley-Kendall and Lyndonville both had five top five place finishers at the Perry Tournament today.

Holley-Kendall had Jeremy Lutes (103) and Immanuel Cornell (285) both place second, Brenden Eichas (138) fourth and Owen Cornell (144) and Tyler Davenport (190) fifth.

Lyndonville had Greyson Romano (175) place second, Brody Hazel (150) third, and Bryson Hazel (103), Michael Alexander (144) and Shannon Withey (157) fourth.

Albion competes at Section VI Duals
Albion lost to Gowanda 41-35 and to Newfane 40-33 at the Section VI Division II Duals Tournament today.

Against Gowanda, Stryker Sanders, Drake Schomske and Jackson Snook all registered pins for Albion as Justin Mengs had a technical fall win.

Against Newfane, Mengs, Sanders, Snook and Alakai Colmenero all had pins and Jaxson Lynch a decision win for the Purple Eagles..

Barker posted a 61-44 victory at Byron-Bergen in a non league boys basketball game this afternoon.

Anthony Taliaferro scored 15, Carter DerSarkissian 14 and Donovan Hefferon 11 to lead the Barker offense as JJ Prynn led the way on the boards with 17 rebounds.

Ice cold shooting in the second half proved costly as Kendall dropped a 47-40 decision to Northstar in the championship game of the Eagles Holiday Basketball Tournament this afternoon.

Kendall bult up a 15 point, 34-19, advantage at the outset of the third quarter on a three by Noah Morehouse and baskets by Jonas Rhodes and Vinnie D’Agostino.

However, the Eagles managed only two more points the rest of the quarter and then went the first six and a half minutes of the final period without scoring a point.

Northstar took advantage of that drought to close the third period with a 15-2 run and rally back to within two at 36-34.

Keeping the momentum, Northstar then outscored Kendall 13-4 in the decisive final period to claim the tourney title.

Vinnie D’Agostino finished with 12 and CJ D’Agostino 10 to lead Kendall as Morehouse added 8, Ryan Gaesser 6 and Rhodes 4.

Roy-Hart 51, Livonia 49
Roy-Hart edged Livonia 51-49 in the consolation game as Matt Aquilina scored 20, Tysen McCaa 12 and Vinny Fazzio 11.

Aquilina scored 10 in the third period to help Roy-Hart extend a narrow 30-29 half-time lead into a 41-32 advantage heading into the final period.

A huge 44-16 scoring surge over the middle two quarters keyed Albion to a 71-42 romp over visiting Warsaw in a non league boys basketball game this afternoon.

Leading 18-13 at the end of the first period, Albion outscored Warsaw 20-7 in the second quarter to extend the advantage to 38-20 at the half.

Nate Gibson scored 9 and Wesley Olles and Tyler Cody both had 4 to lead that Purple Eagles uprising. Cody also sparked the Purple Eagles in the opening period by tallying 10 points.

Keeping the momentum, Albion outpointed Warsaw 24-9 in the third period to open up a huge 33 point, 62-29 advantage. Elijah Doxey scored 7, Cody 6 and Gibson 4 to lead that uprising.

Cody finished with a game high 20, including a pair of slam dunks, Gibson 15 and Olles 11. Dozey added 9, Hunter Huscher 5. Elloit Trapiss 4, Adam Burgio 3 and Ezra Bloom and Malik Lamar 2 each.

Blake Chambers scored 13 and Jaiden Fries 10 to lead the Tigers.

Albion is now 4-2 overall.

Making it theree wins in a row, the Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina Club Hockey Knights hosted Cheektowaga Friday evening and scored a 5-2 victory, giving them a 4-4-1 season record.

Sean Mettler (R-H) began the scoring at the 12:57 point of the opening period with an assist from Gavin Ickowski (R-H). Later in the period, Ryan Felicetti (Wilson) netted a goal from Ickowski and Viktor Snyder (Albion).

Cheektowaga scored the only goal of the second period on a power play.

Within the first 38 seconds of the final period, RBM scored twice to ice the game. Clayton Wagner (Medina) scored what was to be the game winner, while Mettler and Wyatt Bryer (Wilson) tallied assists on the goal. Mettler scored again from Aiden Cronkhite (Newfane) and John Peracciny (R-H).

Felicetti completed the scoring for RBM with a short handed goal from Dominic Metro (Wilson) and Snyder.

RBM’s next game is Wednesday evening at the Riverside Rink against Team Buffalo at 8 p.m.

Roy-Hart dropped a narrow 51-47 decision to visiting Lockport in a non league girls basketball game this evening.

Emma Buzak scored a game high 25 points to lead Lockport as Arden Anterline had 9 and Ava King 8.

Courtney Aquilina sparked Roy-Hart with 21 as Millie Owens had 9, Adella Dukes 8, Zoe Healey 3 and Brooke Corser, Kylie McOmber and Peyton May 2 each.

Roy-Hart grabbed a slender 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter as Aquilina tallied 8 in the early going while Buzak netted all 10 of Lockport’s points including a pair of threes.

The Lady Lions rallied into leads of 22-21 at the half and 39-34 at the three-quarter mark. Buzak scored 6 in the second period, including a four point play, while Anterline tallied 8, including two threes, and King 4 in the third quarter.

The Lady Rams did close to within two, 42-40 midway through the final period after baskets by McOmber and Aquilina but could not pull even.

Lockport is now 4-3 and Roy-Hart 2-5.

Pulling away in the second quarter, Kendall went on to defeat visiting Roy-Hart 62-47 in the semifinals of the Eagles Holiday Tournament this afternoon.

Leading by a narrow 11-9 margin, Kendall opened the second quarter with a decisive 15-1 run including 6 by Ryan Gaesser, 4 by CJ D’Agostino and a three by Sammy Conte to pull away to a 26-10 lead.

The Eagles led 30-15 at the half as Gaesser and CJ D’Agostino both had a total of 7 in the period.

Kendall maintained an 18 point, 47-29, lead at the end of the third period. Jonas Rhodes had a three and a two and Jonny Conte a pair of baskets to lead the Eagles in the third period.

Roy-Hart opened the final period with an 11-4 run, including two threes by Vinny Fazzio and a pair of baskets by Matt Aquilina to cut the deficit to 11, 51-40, but the Rams could get no closer.

Vinnie D’Agostino finished with 15, CJ D’Agostino 12 and Gaesser 10 to lead Kendall. Jonny Conte added 8, Rhodes and Noah Morehouse 5 each, Caleb Opalecky 4 and Sammy Conte 3 for the Eagles.

Aquilina finished with a game high 18 and Fazzio 16 to pace Roy-Hart. Jakob West chipped in with 8, Tysen McCaa 4 and Tyler Rothwell 1 for the Rams.

Kendall will now face Northstar in the championship game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Roy-Hart will play in the 1 p.m. consolation game. Northstar downed Livonia 66-58  in the other semifinal.

Already merged for girls soccer, Lyndonville and Barker will now also be merged for boys soccer this coming fall season.

Lyndonville currently fields modified and varsity boys soccer teams while Barker does not have a boys soccer program.

“I think it is a positive,” said Lyndonville Athletic Director Jim Zeliff. ” We have a great working relationship with Barker and I think it helps us both. We have a solid program and this will give us some depth and stability for the future and it gives the Barker kids who want to play soccer an opportunity to do so.”

“Our goal is to have JV as well as modified and varsity teams and this gives us a chance to have all three levels,”Zeliff added. “I think it is important to have that middle level as it is easier for a player to move up from JV to varsity than to try and make the jump from modified to varsity.”

The new merged Lyndonville/Barker boys team will compete in the Genesee Region League and Section V for the playoffs.

The merged Barker/Lyndonville girls team competes in the Niagara-Orleans League and Section V.

The girls squad plays some of its games at both Barker and Lyndonville and that is also expected to be the case for the boys squad.

A SPECIAL ON THE LINKS – It was a spectacular debut year for Medina’s Melanie Green on the Epson Pro Golf Tour. She earned both the tour’s Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors as well as a coveted LPGA Tour card for the 2026 season. Highlighting her season were two tournament victories and a total of ten top 10 finishes. Her tournament victories came at Michigan and Alabama where her win came on the fifth playoff hole. She finished the season as the tour’s points leader. She is shown here teeing off at the Epson Tour’s  tournament at Guilderland, N.Y. near Albany.

BULLS CAPTURE DIVISION FOOTBALL TITLE – Compiling a perfect 6-0 record Barker/Roy-Hart captured the Section VI C North Division football championship. The Bulls, which also posted a 46-30 win over Salamanca in the Section VI Class C quarterfinals, finished with an 8-2 record. Here Carter DerSarkissian picks up yardage for the Bulls in the sectional win over Salamanca. In fact, the Bulls only two losses were to teams which advanced to the state semifinals –  34-15 to Newfane in the season opener and 30-13 to Chautauqua Lake in the Class C semifinals.

SPARKLING DIAMOND SEASON FOR MUSTANGS – Medina sucessfully defended both its Niagara-Orleans League and Section VI Class B baseball championships to earn a return trip to the state playoffs. Medina posted a 12-0 record to retain the N-O title. The Mustangs then scored narrow wins of 3-2 over rival Roy-Hart in the quarterfinals and 2-1 over Fredonia in nine innings in the semifinals before blanking Southwestern 4-0 in the Section VI Class B final as Brody Fry hurled a no hitter. Fry is shown here being congratulated by teammates Preston Woodworth and Cam Fike. Medina opened state playoff competition by downing Wellsville 6-2 in the sub regional but then dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to Oneonta in the Regional. The Mustangs finished with a 22-2 overall record.

KENDALL ‘9’ CLAIMS LEAGUE, SECTIONAL TITLES – Compiling a perfect 12-0 record, Kendall captured the Genesee Region League baseball title. Keeping the momentum, the Eagles went on to claim the Section V Class C2 championship with a 6-0 win over Genesee Valley-Belfast. Kendall then earned a berth in the Class C state playoffs by nipping Geneseo 5-4 in the Section V state qualifier. Here Sammy Conte is hoisted onto the shoulders of  teammate Vinnie D’Agostino after driving in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip Geneseo. Kendall, which finished the season with a 23-2 overall record, dropped an 8-1 decision to Section VI champion Gowanda in the Far West Regional.

LADY HAWKS WIN SOCCER SECTIONAL TITLE – The Holley girls soccer team captured the Section V Class C1 championship with a 2-1 overtime victory over Canisteo-Greenwood which avenged a 1-0 regular season loss. The Lady Hawks advanced to the finals by upending top seeded Geneseo 1-0 in the semifinals. Byron-Bergen downed Holley 4-0 in the Section V Class C state qualifier contest. KENDALL SOCCER TEAMS CLAIM LEAGUE TITLES – The Kendall boys and girls soccer teams both captured Genesee Region League soccer titles. The Eagles boys team went 12-0 to claim the G-R title and finished the season with an 18-1 record bowing to Naples 2-0 in the Section V Class C2 title contest. The girls claimed the G-R Division 2 title with an 11-0 record. The Lady Eagles finished the season with a 17-2 record dropping a narrow 1-0 decision to Byron-Bergen in the Class C2 final. N-O HAS SOFTBALL CO-CHAMPS – Roy-Hart and Barker shared the Niagara-Orleans League softball championship with identical 10-2 records. LADY TIGERS WIN LEAGUE SOFTBALL TITLE – Lyndonville captured the Genesee Region League Division 2 softball championship with a 12-1 record. The Lady Tigers finished the season with a 19-3 overall record after dropping a narrow 2-1 decision to Fillmore in the Section V Class D semifinals. STATE WTRESTLING PLACE FINISHER – Medina’s Reece Senske placed sixth in his second trip to the state wrestling championships and finished his varsity career with 100 victories. Medina’s Brody Fry, Albion’s Stryker Sanders and Roy-Hart/Barker’s Ronan Klug also all competed at the state championships.

LADY RAMS RETAIN N-O VOLLEYBALL TITLE – Making a successful title defense, Roy-Hart captured the Niagara-Orleans League volleyball championship by compiling a perfect 10-0 record. Here Zoe Healey spikes a return for the Lady Rams as Ryleigh Capen (2) and Raegan Kern (9) back up the play. Roy-Hart also captured the N-O golf title and shared the N-O girls swim championship with Newfane. Albion claimed N-O titles in tennis and boys track. Akron captured the N-O field hockey and boys basketball titles. Wilson captured N-O titles in boys and girls soccer, girls basketball and girls track. Newfane claimed the N-O girls cross-country, wrestling and boys swim championships and shared the girls swim title with Roy-Hart. Barker claimed the N-O boys cross-country title. 

MEDINA MUSTANGS FC WINS TITLE – Successfully moving up a division for the third year in a row, the Medina Mustangs FC captured the Buffalo District Soccer League’s 1st Division regular season championship with a 9-0-1 record. Here Peter Martillotta advances the ball up field for the Mustangs which dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to Ukraine in the playoff semifinals.

For the second day in a row stormy weather has caused the postponement of the two opening round varsity games of the Kendall boys basketball Holiday Tournament.

The first round varsity games are now scheduled for Friday with Kendall to face Roy-Hart at 11:30 a.m.. followed by Livonia vs. Northstar at 1 p.m.

Kendall is now 3-1 on the season and Roy-Hart 3-2.

The Kendall and Roy-Hart JV teams will play at 10 a.m. Friday.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude on Saturday with the JV consolation game at 10 a.m., the JV championship game at 11:30 a.m., the varsity consolation game at 1 p.m. and the varsity championship game at 2:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball

The Lyndonville at Alexander and Medina at Maryvale girls games have also both been postponed.
