Improving to 4-1, Byron-Bergen posted a 52-39 win at Holley this evening in a Genesee Region League boys basketball game.
Byron-Bergen jumped out to an 11 point, 17-6, first quarter lead as Cody Carlson hit three threes and Adam Cardenas made three baskets.
The Bees went on to lead by margins of 15 (32-17) at the half and by 24 (49-24) at the end of the third quarter.
Cardenas finished with a game high 21 points on seven threes and Carlson had 16.
Avante Walker scored 17 and Cam Mosier 16 for Holley which slips to 1-4.

Holley defeated Attica 44-36 and Kendall downed Alexander 55-32 in Genesee Region League girls basketball action this evening.
In another G-R contest, Wheatland-Chili topped Lyndonville 27-22.
Brynn Thomas had 16 points, 5 steals and 4 assists, Ali VanAmeron 10 points and 8 rebounds, Des McCormack 7 points and 7 rebounds and Kyla Burne 6 points and 5 steals to lead Holley.
Izzy D’Agostino led Kendall with 16 points as Payton Vogt added 9, Teagan Shaw and Sophia Picardo 8 each, Mia Price 7 and Stella Kwiatek 5.
Wheatland-Chili was led by Whitney Thrush with 12 points.
Alexa Robinson scored 8 and Hannah Fox 5 to lead Lyndonville.

Six pins sparked Alexander/Pembroke to a 44-28 win over host Lyndonville in a Genesee Region League wrestling match this evening.
Aydaen Talmon (126), Austin Post (132), Jackson Waite (150), Ryder Reichert (157), Brody Heckman (175) and Joseph Severino (285) all registered pins for Alexander/Pembroke.
Justin Holmes (118) and Greyson Romano (190) both notched pins for Lyndonville which also got an overtime decision victory by Abby Alexander (110), a major decision win by Dom Hargrave (138) and a decision win by Ben Doolan (215).
The match was the league opener for both teams.
Holley-Kendall 46, Byron-Bergen 30
In the other G-R opener, Holley-Kendall bested defending champion Byron-Bergen 46-30.
Jayden Rivera (126), Brenden Eichas (138) and Immanuel Cornell (285) all registered pins for Holley-Kendall which also got decision wins by Carson Cady (118), Isaac Bartlett (132) and Miguel Vasquez (190) and three forfeit wins.

A combination of five forfeit wins and two pins keyed defending champion Newfane to a 45-33 victroy over host Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League wrestling match this evening.
Wes Henning (215) and Jonah Morello (103) both notched first period pins for the Panthers which also got a decison win from Colin Doxey (165).
Medina had a trio of pins registered by Luke Duffina (138) in 5:40, Ryan Frentz (144) in 1:34 and Nate Surdel (285) in 2:33 as well as a decison win by Jacob Duffina (118). Surdel rebounded from a 15-2 deficit to score his second period pin.
Newfane is now 2-0 and Medina 0-2 in N-O action.
Roy-Hart/Barker 52, Wilson 24
In the other N-O match Roy-Hart/Barker downed Wilson 52-24.
Scoring wins for Roy-Hart/Barker were Max Liuzzi, Rowan Murray, Aideen Rusnock, Remington Marohn, Luke Fay, Max Hickman, Lincoln Murray, Liam Silsby and RJ Townsend.

Lyndonville romped to a 63-38 victory over host Wheatland-Chili in a Genesee Region League boys basketball game this evening.
Lane Woodworth scored 18, Lyric Raduns 17, Colton Smith 16, Quincy McClinsey 9 and Atticus Mank 3 for the Tigers.
Kendall 61, Alexander 34
A 30-17 edge in rebounds and 20 steals keyed Kendall to a 61-34 G-R win at Alexander.
Sammy Conte had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 assists; Jonny Conte 12 points and 5 steals; Jonas Rhodes 9 points and 5 steals; CJ D’Agostino 8 points, Vinnie D’Agostino 7 points, Noah Morehouse 6 points and Caleb Opalecky 4 points for the Eagles which led 21-20 at the half.
Roy-Hart 61, Cleveland Hill 39
Roy-Hart downed visiting Cleveland Hill 61-39 in a non league game as Matt Aquilina scored 29, Tysen McCaa 8 and Vinny Fazzio 7.
Attica 67, Holley 60
Cam Mosier scored 20, Josh Silpoch 14 and Avante Walker 12 for Holley in the 67-60 G-R loss to Attica.
Wilson 51, Newfane 45
Wilson downed rival Newfane 51-45 in the Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball opener for both teams.
Aidan Neumann scored 18 and Ryan Hough 11 for Wilson while Kasey Wheat led Newfane with 13.
Girls Basketball Wilson 56, Newfane 26
Wilson opened defense of its N-O League girls basketball title with a 56-26 win over rival Newfane.
Lucy Madan and Abbie Faery each scored 12 for Wilson which led 37-13 at the half.
Stephanie Chunco and Emma Johnston each scored 9 for Newfane.
Starpoint 70, Roy-Hart 32
Courtney Aquilina scored 15 and Adella Dukes 10 for Roy-Hart in the 70-32 non league loss to Starpoint.

Medina’s home opener turned out to be a down to the wire thriller this evening as the Mustangs nipped Maryvale 53-51 in a non league contest.
Trailing 49-48, Medina rallied into the lead at 51-48 on a three by Preston Woodworth with 35 seconds remaining.
However, Maryvale answered with a pair of clutch free throws by Jacob Goins to retie the game at 51-51 with 29 seconds to go.
The Mustangs finally regained the lead for good at 53-51 on a layup by Jerrell Nealy with 12 seconds remaining.
Woodworth then blocked a last second Flyers shot to preserve the narrow win.
Nealy finished with a game high 29 and Woodworth 11 as Christian Moss added 7, Kolton Fletcher 3, Carlos Doval 2 and Hadrian Batista 1 as the Mustangs improve to 5-0.
Goins finished with 18 and Eric Hayes 12 to lead the Flyers which are now 3-1.
Nealy scored 10 quick points in the opening quarter as Medina jumped out to a 15-9 lead.
The Mustangs maintained slender one point, 26-25 lead at the half as Nealy tallied 8 in the second quarter.
Putting together a 13-3 run to open the second half, Maryvale rallied into a nine point, 38-29, advantage midway through the third period sparked by threes by Goins and Kevahni Moore.
Medina though answered back with an 8-0 run to close the period and slice the deficit to just one at 38-37. as Woodworth had a two and a three to key the rally.
The Mustangs pulled even twice late in the final stanza, first at 45-45 on a free throw by Moss and again at 47-47 on a basket by Moss before finally regaining the lead at 51-49 on Woodworth’s third three of the evening.
That set the stage for the hectic final half minute which in rapid succession saw the Flyers retie at game at 51-51, Nealy score what proved to be the game winning basket and Woodworth lock up the victory with a block of a last second Flyers shot.
Medina next returns to Niagara-Orleans League action on Friday hosting Roy-Hart at 6:30 p.m.

Two big scoring quarters earned Albion a narrow 59-58 win at LeRoy this evening in a non league boys basketball game.
Trailing 17-4 at the end of the first quarter, Albion battled back with a big 25-7 second period scoring burst to rally into a 29-24 half-time advantage.
Wesley Olles scored 14 to lead that Purple Eagles rally.
Down 39-35 at the end of the third period, Albion again came roaring back this time with a big 24-17 fourth quarter scoring edge to claim the one point win.
Trailing 56-50, the Purple Eagles closed with a key 9-2 scoring run, which included two baskets and a pair of free throws by Tyler Cody and a basket and a free throw by Olles. Cody had a total of 9 points in the period and Olles and Elijah Doxey 5 each.
Olles finished with 19, Cody 16, Nate Gibson 11, Doxey 7, Nick Luft 4 and Josh Schoeberlein 2.
Albion next hosts Newfane in a Niagara-Orleans League at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Oakfield-Alabama 47, Barker 42
Oakfield-Alabama trimmed host Barker 47-42 in a non league game as Mason Watterson scored 16 and Gabriel Smith 15 to lead the Hornets.
Anthony Taliaferro scored 16, JJ Prynn 10, Donovan Hefferon 9, Carter DerSarkissian 6 and Peyton Wagner 1 for Barker.
Barker used a 16-3 second quarter scoring edge, including 9 by Hefferon, to take a 22-11 half-time lead.
However, Oakfield-Alabama answered back with a big 22-9 third quarter scoring surge to rally into a 33-31 lead at the three-quarter mark.
Barker did rally back into a 36-35 lead at the outset of the final period on a jumper by Taliaferro and a three by Prynn but the Bulldogs could not hold the advantage.
The Hornets answered with a 12-6 scoring edge to close the game and claim the win.
Barker next visits Wilson in an N-O contest on Friday.

Brynn Thomas had 9 points and 10 steals, Hanna Ostrom 8 points, 6 assists and 3 steals and Alexis VanAmeronn 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Lady Hawks.
Byron-Bergen 43, Albion 39
Byron-Bergen trimmed visiting Albion 43-39 in a non league contest.
Melia Prince and Aaliyah Jones each scored 12 and Leah Pawlak 9 for Albion.
Avon 59, Kendall 44
Avon downed visiting Kendall 59-44 in a non league game.

Lyndonville’s annual Fred Large Memorial Wrestling Tournament held today included two girls weight classes with Albion and Lyndonville girls claiming top honors.
In the 113-123 lb. class, Albion’s Mia Standish took top honors going 3-0. Lyndonville’s Emily Garcia went 2-1 to take second place.
In the 132-146 lb. class, Lyndonville’s Ainsley Vann went 3-0 to take first place honors. Lew-Port’s Mariana Bucelato finished second going 2-1.

Improving to 2-1, Roy-Hart downed host Attica 55-41 in a non league boys basketball game this evening.
Matt Aquilina poured in 24 and Tysen McCaa had 9 to set the pace for the Rams which led by 8 (14-6) after the first quarter, by 10 (29-19) at the half and by 12 (42-30) at the end of the third quarter. Aquilina scored 8 in the second quarter and 7 in the third.
Roy-Hart next hosts Cleveland Hill in another non league game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rams then begin Niagara-Orleans League competition at Medina on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Wilson 70, Tully 52
Wilson defeated Tully (Section III near Syracuse) 70-52 this evening in the championship game of the Wilson Tip-Off Tournament.
Aidan Neumann scored 29 and Ryan Hough 16 to lead the Lakemen. Neumann surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone.

Holley-Kendall had two individual weight class champions and host Lyndonville one at the annual Fred Large Memorial Wrestling Tournament today.
Jeremy Lutes won at 103 and Brenden Eichas at 138 for Holley-Kendall. Lutes pinned Nathan Dollinger (McQuaid) in 3:34 in his title bout while Eichas went 3-0 in round robin competition at 138.
Lyndonville’s Shannon Withey won at 165 with a narrow 1-0 victory over Medina’s Tyler Raduns in the finals.
Wilson also had two champions in Roman Zarbo (110) and Victor Cusatis (157) as did Byron-Bergen with James Lamb (150) and Soloman Smith (170).
Holley-Kendall also had Parker Denning (144) place third, Kohle Pachla (126) fifth and Jacob Abrams (150), Carter McGrain (175), Tyler Davenport (190) and Aiden McGrain (215) sixth.
Lyndonville also had Brody Hazel (150) and Ben Doolan (190) place second, Justin Holmes (126) third, Abby Alexander (110), Greyson Romano (175) and Bryson Hazel (103) fourth, and Iziah Rodriguez (118), Jake Gidley (144) and Michael Alexander (157) sixth.
Medina had Luke Duffina (132) place second and Jake Duffina (118) fifth.
Albion’s Jackson Snook placed third at 285.
Niagara Falls won the team title with 220 points as Wayne (133), Byron-Bergen (120), Lyndonville (119.5) and Holley-Kendall (89) rounded out the top five.

Building up a commanding 28-2 half-time advantage, Roy-Hart went on to defeat Maryvale 47-6 in a non league girls basketball game this afternoon.
Courtney Aquilina and Adella Dukes each scored 16 to lead the way for Roy-Hart. Millie Owens added 6, Brooke Corser 5 and Kylie McOmber and Zoe Healey 2 each for the Lady Rams.
Wilson 33, East Aurora 16
Abbie Faery scored 8, Bella Thrush 7 and Andrea Faery and Lucy Madan 6 each for Wilson in a 33-16 non league win over East Aurora Friday evening.

Regaining the .500 mark at 3-3, Barker rolled to a 67-44 victory over visiting Cleveland Hill in a non league boys basketball game this afternoon.
Anthony Taliaferro took game high scoring honors for Barker with 27. JJ Prynn added 11, Peyton Wagner and Carter DerSarkissian 8 each, Carson Schwab 6, Donovan Hefferon and Caden Garcia 3 each and Ashton Ark 1.
Cleve Hill was led by Malachi Brazelton with 17.
Trailing 6-2, Barker rallied into the lead for good by putting together a big 16-1 scoring burst including 7 by Taliaferro and 5 by Prynn.
Up 18-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs went on to lead by margins of 14 (38-24) at the half and 21 (57-36) at the end of the third quarter. Taliaferro, who also grabbed off 17 rebounds, scored 10 in the second period and 8 in the third.
Barker next hosts Oakfield-Alabama at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Akron 69, Olmsted 48
Blake Gerstung scored 27 and Derren Brooks 20 to lead Akron to 69-48 non league win over Olmsted this afternoon as the Tigers improve to 4-0.
