Local quartet earns All-State softball honors

A quartet of local players have earned spots on the All-State softball squad which was announced today by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

Albion sophomore catcher Kelsee Soule has been named to the sixth team of the Class A squad.

Roy-Hart junior pitcher Taylor Fry is a fifth team Class B selection.

Barker senior catcher Olivia Denny is a fifth team Class C honoree.

Lyndonville junior pitcher Maddy Boyle is a Class D third team selection.

Soule is a three year varsity starter and a two-time first team Niagara-Orleans All-League selection. A first team All-Western New York Coaches first team large school honoree this spring, she hit .527 and drove in 23 runs.

Fry, who earned first team N-O League and Coaches All-WNY small schools honors this spring posted a 12-1 record on the mound in N-O action with a 1.94 earned run average. At the plate she hit .493.

Denny, a two-time first team N-O All-League honoree, hit .290 this past season and stole 20 bases in 21 attempts.

Boyle, a first team Genesee Region League All-Star, hit .458 with 20 RBIs. On the mound, she had 20 strikeouts in 60 innings with a 3.27 earned run average.
