Press Release, Orleans County Sheriff’s Office

ALBION – Orleans County Sheriff Chris Bourke, the county’s STOP-DWI coordinator, announced that local law enforcement agencies will actively participate in the STOP-DWI July 4th Weekend High Visibility Engagement Campaign which runs from July 1-5.

Americans love to celebrate the Fourth of July with family, friends, food and fireworks, but all too often the festivities turn tragic on the nation’s roads. The fact is this iconic American holiday is also one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to impaired-driving crashes.

During this campaign, law enforcement agencies and local STOP-DWI programs will collaborate across the state in this coordinated effort to reduce the number of impaired driving-related injuries and deaths.

The sheriff urges people to plan a safe way to get home. They could call a sober friend, family member, taxi or Uber.
