The Tri-County Youth Hockey’s Squirt travel team, which includes 9- to 11-year-olds from Orleans County and the surrounding area, advanced to the bronze medal game this morning, and lost in triple overtime to a team from Pelham.

The Tri-County team is based in Brockport. It lost its first game against Rye, 4-2, and then followed that with a 10-0 win over Cortland and then a 7-4 victory against Rouses Point. Today’s bronze medal game was tied at 3 after regulation, and then went to three overtime periods.

The team’s coach Scott Bader of Albion said Tri-County showed it could play with the top teams in state. The tournament was part of the Empire State Winter Games.

Bader thanked the sponsors for helping to cover the cost of the trip for the team.
