Local gridders have busy weekend

7 On 7 COMPETITORS: On Saturday nearly a dozen Albion High players competed in the Greece Olympia 7-7 Football Tournament. The teams competing along with Albion were Greece Olympia, Brockport, Irondequoit, Monroe, Eastridge, McQuaid, Hilton, Bishop Kearney, East and Wayne. “I like our guys to compete against great competition all the time. It can only make us better,” said Coach Gary Parisi. “Our schedule is very tough and when kids learn how to compete against great teams it helps their confidence.” The participating Purple Eagles players included, in front,  Matt Kovaleski, Bryce Pritchard and Lamar Chambers. In back are Kory Reynolds, Tommy Mattison, Shyheim Jakes, Jessy Cruz, Nate Moore, Tyler Kast, Meach Gardner and Brandon McGuire.

COMBINE INVITEES: These four Albion players and one from Medina/Lyndonville were invited and competed in the 2016 New York State Football Coaches Association Elite Combine at Ithaca College today. They were coached and evaluated by coaches from Ithaca, St. John Fisher, Morrisville State, Utica College, Hamilton College and others. The evaluations are compiled and sent to college coaches all through the NCAA. The local players included Tyler Nashburn, Nate Moore, Eric Neace (Medina/Lyndonville), Tommy Mattison and Kory Reynolds.
