Local gridders earn spots on All-WNY squad

Five Albion and two Medina/Lyndonville/Barker players have earned Honorable Mention on the annual All-Western New York football squad.

B2 Division champion Albion is represented by running backs Ugene Harrison and Brillance Johnson, defensive linemen Brennan Hughes and Ben Restivo and defensive back Matt Kovaleski. All are seniors except Johnson who is a junior.

The Mustangs have placed senior quarterback Izaiah Rhim and sophomore defensive back Brian Fry.

Two other area players, Wilson quarterback Steve Frerichs and Newfane running back Jaden Heers, also both received Honorable Mention.

Harrison had 540 yards rushing, 6 touchdowns and on defense 51 tackles while Johnson had 660 yards rushing and scored 7 touchdowns.

Kovaleski caught 26 passes for 400 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. Defensively, he had 3 interceptions and made 22 tackles.

Restivo made a team leading 77 tackles and had 5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery and Hughes had 39 tackles and 5 sacks.

Rhim had 1,044 yards passing and 11 touchdowns and also rushed for 535 yards and 10 TDs.

Fry made 72 tackles and had 2 interceptions. On offense he scored a total of 7 touchdowns with 41 receptions for 600 yards.
