Local golfers place high at state Boys and Girls Amateur Championship

Young Ian Wagner, who plays out of Shelridge Country Club, placed fifth this week in the Boys Division at the New York State Boys and Girls Amateur Golf Championship held at Ridgemont Country Club in Rochester.

Wagner finished seven shots back of the leader with a two round total score of 159 (80 and 79).

Kendall High linkster Evan Gaesser, who plays out of Brook-Lea Country Club, placed second in the Junior Division at the state championship.

Tied for first place after the first round, Gaesser finished just one shot back of the leader with a total score of 144 (70 and 74).

At Shelridge County Club this past weekend first place honors in the Mr. and Mrs. Shelridge Tournament went to Tom Colonna and Jen Lepkoske. Ray Neuman and Missy Newman placed second with Rob and Tina Dennis third.
