Local GCC players earn All-Star honors

Three local players on the Genesee Community College women’s soccer team have earned All-Star honors.

Albion High graduate Kayla Doyle and Holley grad Nikki Mauro have been named to the the All Western New York Athletic Conference first team while Holley grad Claudia Passarell has earned second team honors. All three are sophomores at GCC.

Doyle has also earned first team All-Region honors while Passarell was a second team selection.

Doyle had 10 goals and 16 assists on the season and Mauro 4 goals and 7 assists while Passarell helped to anchor the Cougars defense.

The GCC roster also included several other Orleans players including sophomores Taylor Miller (Medina) and Kelsey Schmitt (Albion) along with freshman Brenna DeFelice (Holley) and Brianna VanAmeran (Holley).

GCC reached the regional semifinals where the Cougars dropped a 2-1 decision to Tompkins Cortland Community College.
