Local duo helps spark NCCC to tourney title

Staying perfect at 5-0, the Niagara County Community College women’s basketball team defeated the host team 71-48 this afternoon in the championship game of the Northampton (PA) Community College Tip-Off Tournament as Albion graduate Tanisha Moyer and Roy-Hart grad Jesse DeWaters helped to lead the way.

Moyer had 22 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks and DeWaters 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists to earn the tourney’s MVP honor.

Jaclyn Welch was NCCC’s leading scorer with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 steals.

In the semifinals on Saturday, NCCC defeated County College of Morris, New Jersey as Moyer had 19 points and 12 rebounds; DeWaters 6 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Welch 16 points and 4 steals.
