Local duo earns 1st team All-State honors

Two local players, Lyndonville’s Mike Wells and Barker’s Eddie Wasnock have both earned first team All-State baseball squad honors.

Wells, who just completed his junior year, earned first team Class D honors.

The Section V Class D Player of the Year, he posted a 6-0 record on the mound with 37 strikeouts and a 1.20 earned run average.

At the plate, he hit .508 and drove in 43 runs.

Wasnock, who also just completed his junior year, earned first team Class C honors.

An Honorable Mention All-Western New York selection, he went 7-2 on the mound with 59 strikeouts and a 0.75 era.

Holley’s Dylan Hillabush earned second team Class B honors and Lyndonville’s Eric Neace was a third team Class D selection.

Hillabush, who just finished his junior year, went 5-0 on the mound with 52 strikeouts in 32 innings of work and a 0.92 era.

At the plate, he hit .395 with 3 doubles and 13 RBIs.

Neace, who also just completed his junior year, hit .525 with 9 extra base hits and 23 RBIs.

Wells, Neace and Hillabush were all first team Genesee Region League All-Stars and Wasnock was a first team Niagara-Orleans All-League honoree.
