Local diamond duo are Cup finalists

Contributed Photo – Medina’s Trevor Luthart, left, and Roy-Hart’s Charlie Bruning were among the 16 finalists for the inaugural Colpoys-Barrows Cup which is being given to honor Western New York’s Scholastic Baseball Player of the Year. Luthart, who will be a senior at Medina this fall, helped hurl the Mustangs to Niagara-Orleans League, Section VI Class B and Far West Regional titles and a trip to the state semifinals this season. Bruning, who graduated from Roy-Hart in June helped hurl and hit the Rams to a second straight Section VI Class B2 championship. Brian Norson from Frontier High was named the recipient of the Colpoys-Barrows Cup at a banquet held Wednesday evening.
