ALBION – It’s been a tough month to be in Little League with all of the cold and rain. Members of the Saint Mary’s team in Albion Midget League found a way to get in some swings despite the day’s downpour that drenched local fields.

Team members used the batting cage and pitching machine inside Pawlak’s Save-A-Lot.

In the top photo, Dyllan Beach, 12, makes contact inside the cage.

In this picture, newcomer to the team Nick Andrews, 9, concentrates and waits for the pitch.

Saint Mary’s coach Mike Neidert feeds the machine with balls. Saint Mary’s and the other teams in the league are scheduled to open the season on May 10. Opening day was scheduled for May 3, but was pushed back due to the soggy spring.

Editor’s note: Tom Rivers has a son on Saint Mary’s.
