The bats went quiet for the Niagara Nationals which bowed out of the Super 25 Tournament in Massachusetts today with a 1-2-1 record.

The Nationals opened the tourney on Friday with a 1-1 tie against the AP Academy. A sacrifice fly by Joe Dell’oso plated the equalizer in the sixth inning.

Chris Goyette went the distance on the mound allowing 6 hits and striking out 5. He also banged out a pair of hits.

The Nationals then picked up their lone win, a 4-3 victory over the Mavericks.

The Mavericks jumped out to a quick 3-0 first inning lead but the Nationals answered back with 4 tallies in the fifth to earn the win. A double by  Aiden Johnston and a single by Dell’oso highlighted the rally.

Sam Murphy picked up the win on the mound giving up 5 hits and striking out 8. He also banged out a triple as Dave Belsito added a pair of hits.

However, the Nationals managed just 3 hits in each of their next two games losing 3-0 to Nor’Eastern and 7-1 to the TB Braves to bow out of tourney competition.
