Lew-Port tops Medina in softball opener

Erupting for six quick runs in the first inning, Lew-Port went on to defeat Medina 21-10 the afternoon in a season opening non league softball game at Vets Park.

Brooklyn Brown had three doubles for Medina which next hosts Notre Dame in another non league contest at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Vets Park.

Tennis

Akron 5, Wilson 0

Defending champion Akron blanked Wilson 5-0 in the Niagara-Orleans League tennis opener this afternoon.

Second Singles: Caleb Suckow (Akron) d. Sam Georgal 6-2, 6-4

Third Singles: Samantha Niescier (Akron) d. Evan McKinney 6-1, 6-2

First Doubles: Sean Brennan and Sean OShaughnessy (Akron) d. Connor Seider and Cassidy Wagner  6-1, 6-0

Second Doubles: Kaly Lin and Stella Van Wyk (Akron) d. Aubiana Cristiano and Gracie Phillips 6-1, 6-2

In a Genesee Region League match, Notre Dame downed Kendall 5-0 to improve to 3-1.

In another G-R match, Attica trimmed Holley 3-2. Cavan Bennage won at first singles and James Tette and Mason Neale at first doubles for Holley.
