LeRoy trims Medina with late scoring burst

A late inning scoring burst keyed LeRoy to a 6-4 win over Medina in a non  league game at Vets Park this afternoon.

Trailing 3-2, LeRoy erupted for 4 runs in the sixth inning to regain the lead for good. A two-run single by Ryan Higgins and an RBI single Jackson Spezzano highlighted that rally.

Medina did rally for a run in the bottom of the seventh on a bases loaded fielders choice play off the bat of Aiden Pitts. However, the Mustangs left the bases loaded as a line out to first base ended the rally and the game.

LeRoy had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a two-run single by Alexander Spezzano.

Medina answered with a run in the home half of the frame on an RBI single by Carter Woodworth. The Mustangs then grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth frame on an RBI double by Aidan Paul, who had a total of 4 hits on the day, and a bases loaded hit batter.

Defensively, the Mustangs turned two double plays, The first came in the fifth inning from Preston Woodworth at second to Pitts at shortstop to Paul at first which got the Mustangs out of a bases loaded jam. The second ended the top of the seventh on a play from Julian Woodworth in center to Paul.

The Mustangs next face Kenmore West in a non league game at Niagara Falls at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Akron 12, Barker 0
Aiden Romesser hurled a 3 hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead Akron to a 12-0 win over host Barker in a Niagara-Orleans Leafgue game.

Dawson Stone and Vincent Consiglio both had 2 hits and Ryan Owen drove in 3 runs to lead the Tigers at the plate.

Akron is now 2-0 and Barker 0-5 in N-O action.

In another N-O contest, Wilson (2-0) downed rival Newfane (2-3) 2-1.

The Roy-Hart vs. Albion game was postponed due to wet grounds.

In Genesee Region League baseball action, Pembroke defeated Lyndonville 19-8 and Elba downed Holley 28-2.
