BARRE – The leaves are starting to change colors in Orleans County. This tree was pictured last evening on West Barre Road, just west of the Barre Town Hall.

New York’s tourism officials are urging people to get out and see the leaves. Orleans is in the “just changing” stage.

I Love New York tourism updates the weekly fall foliage report every Wednesday. This map for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6 shows the leaves in Orleans County are “just changing” while other regions are at mid-point or peak colors. Long Island and New York City also are “just changing.”

“Spectacular peak fall foliage will make its first appearances in New York State this weekend in many areas of the Adirondacks and Catskills, as well as a portion of the Thousand Islands-Seaway region,” according to the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program. “Leaves are rapidly changing color following days and nights of cooler weather.”
