League title races start to take shape

It’s only the start of week three but local high school fall sports league title races are already shaping up.

In the B-North football division Medina and Burgard are deadlocked for the top spot at 2-0. The Mustangs will host Akron Friday in an interdivisional game while Burgard visits Lew-Port (1-0, 2-0).

Barker and Kenmore share the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey lead at 2-0 heading into Thursday’s key meeting for the top spot.

On the links, undefeated (6-0) Barker holds a two match lead over Akron and Wilson, both at 4-2 while Albion and Medina are deadlocked for third at 3-3.

The tightest race is in the N-O girls soccer battle where undefeated (4-0) Wilson has Albion, Akron and Newfane all right behind at 3-1. Albion visits Newfane Monday in a key contest.

The N-O boys soccer race has Akron at 4-0 with Medina and Newfane both at 2-1. The Mustangs will visit the Tigers in a key contest Saturday.

First place in the N-O volleyball race will be on the line Thursday as 4-0 Roy-Hart faces 3-0 Albion. The Purple Eagles also have a key home match Tuesday against 2-2 Medina.
