Law enforcement agencies in Orleans County will increase DWI patrols during the Thanksgiving holiday. The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, and Albion, Holley and Medina police departments are increasing patrols to stop drinking and driving from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1.

The local law enforcement agencies will be using state funds through the STOP-DWI Foundation and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee to help with the increased patrols.

Chris Bourke, the Orleans County undersheriff, urges people who have been drinking alcohol to plan a safe way home. They should call for a ride from a sober friend or family member, or get a ride through a taxi or Uber driver, Bourke said.
